Korea Asset Management Corporation (KAMCO), led by Chairman & CEO Jeong Hoon Jeong, announced its participation in the ‘Korea-Vietnam Financial Cooperation Forum’ and the ‘Korea-Vietnam Business Forum’ held in Hanoi, Vietnam, on Thursday, April 23. The corporation aimed to explore cooperation strategies to enhance the stability of Vietnam’s financial market. The forums were organized to facilitate the exchange of financial expertise between Korea and Vietnam and to identify actionable cooperation projects. KAMCO participated as part of the economic delegation accompanying President Lee Jae-myung on his visit to Vietnam, showcasing advanced Korean financial techniques and strengthening the partnership between the two nations. At the ‘Korea-Vietnam Financial Cooperation Forum,’ KAMCO delivered a presentation titled ‘Enhancing Vietnam’s Non-performing Loan Resolution System for Financial Market Stability.’ Drawing from its experience in managing non-performing loans, KAMCO proposed strategies to improve the health of Vietnam’s financial market. The Vietnamese representatives acknowledged the necessity of implementing a non-performing asset resolution system and discussed potential cooperation plans between the two countries. Subsequently, at the ‘Korea-Vietnam Business Forum,’ KAMCO signed an annex agreement to an existing comprehensive memorandum of understanding with the Vietnam Asset Management Company (VAMC). This agreement specifies the cooperation scope, where both organizations committed to advancing and digitally transforming Vietnam’s non-performing loan resolution system and establishing a financial distress management framework aligned with market principles. The Vietnam Asset Management Company, a public institution established by Vietnam’s central bank in 2013, focuses on resolving non-performing loans from financial institutions. Through this collaboration, KAMCO expects that Korea’s advanced financial systems and techniques will contribute to strengthening Vietnam’s financial safety net and assist Korean financial firms in entering the Vietnamese non-performing loan market. |
